Yanga’s request to replace former Chiefs star denied

The Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) has explained its decision to reject Yanga SC’s request to deregister a former Kaizer Chiefs striker and replace him with DR Congo international Tuisila Kisinda.

In a statement issued on Monday, TFF responded to Yanga’s claims that Kisinda, who parted ways with Moroccan club RS Berkane was registered before the transfer deadline day.

TFF stated that Yanga SC had already submitted the 12 names of foreign players to represent the club in the 2022/23 season. The federation insisted they had already handed out the players’ licenses to Wananchi.

The Tanzanian football governing body revealed that player registration submitted by the country’s four teams to participate in CAF club competitions was approved before the deadline.

As a result, Yanga’s request to have former Chiefs striker Kambole’s name removed from the list of registered players and replaced with Kisinda was denied as it came after the registration deadline period.

The four clubs representing Tanzania are Azam FC and Geita Gold in the CAF Confederations Cup and Simba and Yanga in the CAF Champions League.

Yanga have a total of 14 foreign players Djigui Diarra (Mali), Yanick Bangala (Congo DR), Khaleed Aucho (Uganda), Djuma Shaban (Congo DR), Jesus Moloko (Congo DR), Fiston Mayele (Congo DR), Kambole (Zambia), Aziz Ki (Burkina Faso), Yacouba Sogne (Burkina Faso), Heritier Makambo (Congo DR), Gael Bigirimana (Burundi), Bernard Morrison (Ghana), Joyce Lomalisa (Congo DR) and Tuisila Kisinda (Congo DR) in their squad, which is more than the allocated number (12) of foreign spots available.

However, due to injuries, Sogne was not registered to play for Yanga in the local competitions. Therefore, Yanga planned to remove Kambole’s name from the list of 12 foreign players and replace him with Kisinda so Sogne could play in the Tanzania Premier League.

At the same time, Kambole, who part ways with Chiefs at the end of the 2021/22 season, remains in the CAF Champions League squad until January 2023 transfer window. They believe the ex-Chiefs man has not had enough pre-season preparation and is injury prone.
