Why Chiefs and Magesi meet again in just 25 days

Kaizer Chiefs and Magesi FC meet again in the Betway Premiership just 25 days after their last encounter, a quick turnaround that comes as a result of a rescheduled fixture earlier in the season.

The match originally scheduled for November 2025 but postponed due to Kaizer Chiefs’ involvement in the CAF Confederation Cup. That continental commitment forced the Premier Soccer League to reshuffle the calendar, bringing the return fixture forward into April and creating a tight gap between the two meetings.

MAGESI FC AND KAIZER CHIEFS MEET AGAIN

The two sides last met on 21 March 2026, when Kaizer Chiefs secured a comfortable 2-0 win at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban. Goals from academy graduates Wandile Duba and Mfundo Vilakazi helped Amakhosi continue their push inside the top four at the time.

Wednesday’s second showdowns will be a rare standalone fixture in the league this week, and it comes with pressure on both sides but for very different reasons.

Kaizer Chiefs arrive in form, while Magesi are fighting to keep their season alive. Amakhosi head into this one on the back of four straight wins, the latest being a 2-0 victory over TS Galaxy on Sunday. That run has strengthened their grip on third place and kept them firmly in the CAF Confederation Cup qualification spot.

Magesi, on the other hand, are in a completely different situation. Sitting at the on 17 points, this is as close to a must-win as it gets.

A victory could lift them out of the relegation zone, above Orbit College and Marumo Gallants, who are both on 19 points.

But the timing couldn’t be tougher, facing an in-form Kaizer Chiefs side that is building momentum and playing with belief.
