Uzalo actor General Sqhaza “Judge Sosibo’s previous profession shocks Mzansi

Uzalo actor Maviyo Judge Sosibo who plays the role of General Sqhaza Mbhele on the SABC 1 soap opera, is a South African thespian chasing his acting dreams.



Born and bred in Ixopo, KwaZulu-Natal, Judge Sosibo attended Isinamumva High School and the Durban University of Technology, where he studied for a Degree in Arts and Media. After finishing school, Judge failed to get any acting role and tried his luck in the recording studio composing Ragga music. A previously dreadlocked Judge Sosibo scored the Uzalo role after a long and cumbersome process characterized by long queues and various auditions.

Speaking about his newly found fame, Maviyo Judge Sosibo revealed that playing a role in the most-watched soap opera on SABC 1 changed his life.

“It hasn’t been an easy road; I persisted till I got the General role, and it has been my dream to become an actor and to do so on such a huge platform is a blessing. People from my community and family members started to treat me with respect ever since the Uzalo role.”

Maviyo says that he hopes his newfound fame and respect will keep him a humble man and not grow springs under his feet where he will start looking down on people.

“Playing alongside celebrated actors is a humble experience and serves as an example to other hopeful young and old aspiring actors that it’s never too late.

In Uzalo, the General role is MaDongwe’s lover; the couple first met when the General saved MaDongwe from a snake bite during a tour. A rugged personality who served in the army, General lives by strict principles and his introduction into the Xaba household will stir conflicts. The Xaba children, Njeza, Lily and Nonka, have started to feel the General’s presence as he stamps a fatherly authority. Despite planned resistance from the children, with the General succeed in implementing discipline in the Xaba children?



According to Uzalo teasers, Judge Sosibo’s role as General will quickly end on the SABC 1 soap opera. Despite being well-received, his role will soon be deployed into a war country.
