Former Bafana Bafana captain Thulani Hlatshwayo says his move to SuperSport United after an indifferent spell at Orlando Pirates made him fall in love with the game again.
Hlatshwayo was the national team captain when he arrived at the Soweto giants but never quite hit the ground running before eventually terminating his contract via mutual agreement as he looked for regular game time after falling out of favour.
His move to SuperSport United under his former coach Gavin Hunt, with whom he won the league has seen a major upturn in fortunes, capped off with a Player of the Season honour at their annual awards ceremony on Monday evening at Randpark Golf Club.
“For me, I wanted to enjoy the game, to love the game, to revive my career and to have Gavin Hunt, someone who really knows me, someone who I’ve done a lot of good things under him, that training sessions, it’s what I needed,” Tyson said.
“It clearly showed… I was able to revive my career with this training regime under Hunt, it’s what’s made me who I am when I was with him at Bidvest Wits [where they won a league title].”
The 33-year-old won the last of his 54 senior international caps back in March 2021 under then-head coach Molefi Ntseki.
