South African singer Tyla Laura Seethal, a Grammy winner, achieved remarkable success at this year’s BET Awards in Los Angeles. She secured two prestigious titles: Best New Artist and Best International Act. During her acceptance speech, Tyla expressed her gratitude and dedicated the awards to Africa and the African superstars who came before her.

Limpopo-born artist Ndivhunzannyi Ralivhona, known as Makhadzi, also made waves by winning the BET Viewers’ Choice: Best New International Act. Makhadzi, who started her musical journey selling music on the streets, celebrated the achievement as the best birthday gift ever.

Gayton McKenzie, the newly appointed Minister of Sport, Arts, and Culture, congratulated both Tyla and Makhadzi, emphasizing the ministry’s commitment to discovering more future superstars.

In an interview, Makhadzi reflected on her hard work, believing that God’s timing had finally aligned with her deserving success. She aims for consistency, relevance, and dreams of performing at the BET Awards someday.
