Kaizer Chiefs have suffered a double blow as Khama Billiat and Nkosingiphile Ngcobo have been ruled out for the rest of the 2022/23 DStv Premiership season due to severe injuries.
Attacker Billiat has suffered a torn groin muscle and will be on the sidelines for the rest of the campaign.
Ngcobo, who plays in the middle of the park will be out for three to four months after a thigh muscle setback.
OTHER KAIZER CHIEFS INJURED PLAYERS
The Soweto giants growing injury list also includes midfielder Cole Alexander, and defenders Reeve Frosler and Dillan Solomons.
They sustained injuries last week in Chiefs’ 2-0 win over Royal AM at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium in a DStv Premiership clash.
Alexander recently came out of the moon boot and has started running again. He is expected to be back in training soon.
Frosler, suffered a jaw fracture and will be out for six to eight weeks.
Meanwhile, Solomons will be nursing his dislocated shoulder for about four to six weeks.
ARTHUR ZWANE ON KAIZER CHIEFS INJURIES
“We lost two of our right-backs in the same game. Reeve [Frosler] has gone for an operation so he’s going to be out for at least six weeks,” Zwane revealed.
“Khama [Billiat] has also gone for surgery, as has Nkosingiphile Ngcobo. Cole [Alexander] is still not ready to come back. He started jogging this week.”
But, the Chiefs mentor is unfazed by the injuries setbacks, as he is confident he has a pool of players that can come in and gets the job done in the absence of the injured players.
ARTHUR ZWANE REMAINS CONFIDENT DESPITE INJURY SETBACKS
“We have never had such a situation in the team and it is quite disturbing,” he added.
“But it’s part of the game and we’re not going to dwell on it and complain.
“We still have playing personnel that can go out and execute the plan.”
The Glamour Boys will take on TS Galaxy this afternoon [15:30] at Mbombela Stadium in a DStv Premiership clash.
