TV Actress Gets Protection Order Against Husband

Former Skeem Saam actress Makgofe Moagi has obtained a protection order against her husband but withdrew the criminal case of common assault against him.

Africa Daily can exclusively reveal that Moagi, who played Charity Mabu in South Africa’s third-biggest soap opera, filed a withdrawal statement against her husband, Mandla Mazibuko, at the Olievenhoutbosch Police Station on 20 September 2026.

In the withdrawal statement, which Africa Daily has seen, the sultry thespian stated that she was withdrawing the common assault case against Mazibuko on condition that he does not contravene the protection order she obtained against him.

“The withdrawal of this is conditional on compliance with the agreement we have, of which our lawyers were privy to. The conditional withdrawal states that if Mandla contravenes, this matter will be resuscitated,” reads the withdrawal statement.

The withdrawal statement further states that Mazibuko, despite the withdrawal of the case, will still not have access to their marital home after he was prohibited from doing so by his bail conditions.

“He will not interfere with my protection order and I will remain in the house with the kids and he has no access to the residence,” reads the withdrawal statement.

Moagi was allegedly beaten up by her husband after she told him that she was planning to divorce him.

The shocking details were revealed by a source who did not want to be named for fear of reprisal.

The deep throat alleged that Moagi informed Mazibuko when he arrived home on 11 September that she had gone to seek legal counsel from her lawyers because she wanted to end their faltering union.

The mole alleged that Mazibuko lost his cool and became extremely violent when she spoke to him about her plans to kick him to the curb.

The tipster alleged that Mazibuko pushed Moagi so violently before punching her on several occasions on her solar plexus.

It is alleged that the actress alerted her close friends about the incident.

They advised her to report Mazibuko to the police.

The actress, who hails from Phalaborwa in Limpopo, went to Midrand Police Station after being assaulted and opened a case against Mazibuko. He was arrested and released on bail when he appeared in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court.

The informant’s version of events is corroborated by a short police statement which Africa Daily has seen.

“The complainant alleges that on 2026-09-11 at 12:00 her husband Geophrey became violent after she said that she went to see a lawyer regarding divorcing him. She alleged that her husband forcefully pushed her and beat her using his fist and also damaged the main bedroom door, which will cost about R30 000 to repair,” read the statement.

Moagi, the former presenter of Motswako show on SABC 2, declined to comment.

“No comment as this matter is sub judice,” she said.

Mazibuko also declined to comment, citing the sub judice rule.

Gauteng Police Spokesperson Tintswalo Sibeko had not responded to the written questions we sent to her on Wednesday.
