TS Galaxy boss aims subtle dig at Kaizer Chiefs

TS Galaxy boss Sead Ramovic has taken aim at Kaizer Chiefs after round 24 of the DStv Premiership games.

TS Galaxy lost to relegation-threatened Maritzburg United, 2-1 at home, at the Mbombela Stadium on Sunday.

Coming into this game, Ramovic’s side was unbeaten in the league since January, when they lost to Mamelodi Sundowns at home.

In their unbeaten run, they won three games and drew two. During that period, they accumulated enough points to put them in the top eight.

However, on Sunday, 2 April, against Maritzburg, TS Galaxy’s fortunes turned against them. Early in the game, the Mpumalanga side found themselves trailing behind by one goal.

But they were able to equalise in the 22nd minute of the game with a goal from Bernard Parker. However, the stalemate did not last long, as Maritzburg was rewarded with a penalty just before halftime. This gave them a lead heading into halftime.

After the game, Ramovic expressed his frustrations about the officiating during an interview with SuperSport TV.

He also revealed that he thought his side also deserved a penalty.

“I think the penalty, when they gave it to Maritzburg United, they deserved to reward us with a penalty.

“The side where I was standing, it seemed we also should’ve gotten a penalty, but we did not.

“And about the refereeing, there is no point in talking about it because, from the first game we played until now, we should have gotten a lot of penalties.

“And I would like to be a big team that maybe gets nine, 10 penalties every season,” concluded Ramovic.

Interestingly, Stellenbosch FC coach Steve Barker, whose team had a played red-carded against Kaizer Chiefs, also complained about referees.

Chiefs also got a penalty in their 2-1 win over Stellies at the FNB Stadium on Saturday. In the reverse fixture, Chiefs were given three penalties.

Meanwhile, TS Galaxy remain in the top eight despite losing to Maritzburg. Their next game in the league will be against SuperSport United on Friday, 7 April.
