Sekhukhune United head coach Brandon Truter wants match officials held accountable for the controversial goal in their DStv Premiership encounter against Moroka Swallows on Wednesday night.

Babina Noko succumbed to a 2-1 defeat to Maswaiswai at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane.

In a post-match interview, Truter revealed how disappointed he was by the officiating and felt like his side was hard done by the referee’s decision to allow the goal after goalkeeper Badra Sangare was visibly pushed by Gabadinho Mhango

‘Brakkies’, as he’s popularly known within the football circles, insisted that the referee should have handled the game fairly and made the right call.

The losing coach, Truter, further stated that the Dube Birds were being favoured by the match official as the opposition were pushing for the goal to be allowed from the bench.

BRANDON TRUTER ON MATCH OFFICIALS IN SA

“The officiating this season is poor,” Truter told journalists after the match.

“On Monday night, I watched a European game between Manchester United and Wolverhampton where the official got it wrong and the whole panel was suspended after that incident. But, here in South Africa, they get away with these things just like that.

“It was very blatant for everybody to see a push on the goalkeeper. Even their bench confirmed it but they fought for the goal. They were pushing the officials for the goal. I would also do the same.”

Truter continued: “Well, I’m disappointed about that decision but we move forward. I just hope SAFA doesn’t leave it as it is.

BRANDON TRUTER ON MISSILES THROWING

The ex-AmaZulu mentor went on to condemn the issue of missile throwing into the pitch by the fans after the showdown and admitted that the fans were frustrated but that’s not something they “encourage.”

“I don’t encourage it. But if it’s clear and blatant for everybody to see then you feel a sense of being robbed,” he added.

“I think the fans got frustrated there and that’s what happened. However, I don’t encourage it.

“I’m sure our media department will speak to the supporters about the missiles throwing.”

As things stand, Sekhukhune are placed eighth on the log standings with three points from three outings.
