Multi-award winning actor Jamie Bartlett who is reported to have died on Monday evening, was one of South Africa’s most decorated actors who achieved a lot in his career.

Jamie Bartlett, who was much loved for his portrayal of the role of David Genaro on the soapie Rhythm City, died at the age of 55.

At the time of writing, the cause of his death is unknown and quite hazy. The family is yet to make an official announcement regarding the circumstances of his death.

His sudden untimely death has since sent shock waves in Mzansi.

Birth, Age, Family

Jamie Bartlett was born to a South African mother and a British father in Maidenhead, England, in 1966.

Education

He attended St Stithians Boys College in Johannesburg, Rondebosch High School in Cape Town, and Brynston High School.

Bartlett studied speech and drama at the University of Cape Town. He also studied his post Graduate Masterclasses at Chrysalis Theater Acting School situated in London.

Career/ TV& Movie roles

Jamie Bartlett was one of the most renowned actors in South Africa. His acting career spans at least three decades, and Jamie Bartlett made numerous appearances in local and international films.

In 1997 he acted in The Sexy Girls, an action MNET movie.
He was cast in Isidingo as Mike O’Riley.
In 2007 he started playing the role of David Genaro in the Rhythm City. The diabolical criminal mastermind, David Genaro, was the heart of Rhythm City. Jamie Bartlett will forever be a legend and be remembered for his many shenanigans as David Genaro on Rhythm City.
He also guest-starred in the South African-Canadian TV series Jozi-H.

Jamie Bartlett’s first significant movie role was in the US film American Ninja 2 . Here is a look at some of his major movie roles;

He acted in the 1987 action sequel film American Ninja 2, and subsequently, in 1993, he also starred in American Ninja 5.
In 2003 he had a supporting role in the romantic drama Beyond Borders. He acted alongside Angelina Jolie.
In 2004 he had a supporting role in the British film drama Red Dust, where he played the role of Dirk Hendricks.
In 2007 he played a supportive role in the horror thriller ‘Prey’ as Crawford, a professional hunter and guide.
In 2010 he starred in a children’s parable White Lion. The film won the SAFTA awards for Best Cinematography in a feature film, Best Music Composition in a feature film and Best Sound Design in a feature film.
He was also featured in Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom alongside Idris Alba.

The couple served some of the major couple goals.
