Trevor Noah and The Daily Show emerged as big winners at the 27th Annual Webby Awards. Hosted by Roy Wood Jr., the ceremony saw The Daily Show take home a total of seven awards. Among these accolades, South African-born comedian Trevor Noah was recognized as Best Web Personality/Host for his Between the Scenes segment, where he often shared stories about his family and homeland.

After stepping down as host of The Daily Show seven months prior, Noah explained that he wanted to focus on other areas of his life. In an appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, he expressed how much he would miss ‘the people, the culture and the vibe’ of The Daily Show, likening the experience to planning a wedding every day without ever getting to enjoy a honeymoon.

“So, I miss the discipline. I miss the joy from cracking that nut every day, but I don’t miss the grind,” he added.

Trevor said he now chose when to consume the news and enjoyed that he did not have to have an opinion as soon as something happened.

He has been spending time with loved ones since his break, including white river rafting with friends in Costa Rica. He also has an extensive stand-up comedy world tour in the coming months, including a trip to South Africa for shows in August and September.

The former The Daily Show host has won various awards, including a Primetime Emmy Award from 11 nominations.

Trevor has also hosted the Grammy Award shows three times in a row.
