Top 10 goal scorers list

Posted on September 18, 2025

The 2025/26 Betway Premiership season is just six matches old, but already there’s a mad scramble for bragging rights as the country’s top goal scorer.

Mamelodi Sundowns’ Lucas Ribeiro Costa proved last season to be the deadliest striker in the country with 16 goals.

It’s unlikely that anyone will break – or come even close – the all-time PSL record of 25 goals held by Zambia’s Collins Mbesuma while playing for Kaizer Chiefs in the 2004/05 season.

Fast start

Veteran striker Bradley Grobler has made a fast start to the season at his new club, Sekhukhune United.

Grobler, now 37, has found the back of the net a joint-leading four times in just six matches this campaign, including a brace in Babina Noko’s recent 3-1 win over previously unbeaten Kaizer Chiefs.

Grobler joined Sekhukhune United from SuperSport United when Matsatsantsa were sold at the conclusion of last season.

He played 293 matches for SuperSport United in all competitions, scoring 91 goals.

Previous winner

Prior to that, the Johannesburg-born former Bafana Bafana marksman played for Platinum Stars (67 matches, 20 goals) and Ajax Cape Town (13 matches, 4 goals) in South Africa, as well as Turkish second division side Göztepe A.Ş (29 matches, 6 goals).

Grobler was a previous Lesley Manyathela Golden Boot award winner in the 2020/21 season when he netted on 16 occasions.

It would take a brave man to bet against Grobler not repeating that feat this season.
