Cape Town City head coach Eric Tinkler has confirmed the club has secured the signing of Thabiso Kutumela from Mamelodi Sundowns on a season-long loan.
Kutumela, 29, has been linked with moves to Cape Town Spurs, AmaZulu and City after it had been made clear that he’s searching for regular first-team football.
Sundowns coach Rulani Mokwena stated over the past week that they are looking to ‘clarify’ his future and with Kutumela in the stands at Athlone Stadium it became clear.
“Correct, we feel we need a little bit more depth and opportunity for someone who has goalscoring attributes and someone I’ve worked with before,” Tinkler confirmed when asked about Kutumela’s signing.
“We’re very, very happy to bring him because obviously, he will give us an added number.”
Kutumela scored five goals and registered six assists in 38 games for Sundowns since his move from Maritzburg United, the club where he worked with Tinkler, back in 2021.
