SuperSport United defender Thulani Hlatshwayo has shared some with Thatayaone Ditlhokwe, who is set to join Kaizer Chiefs ahead of 2023/24 DStv Premiership season.
The Botswana international, Thatayaone Ditlhokwe, has been one of the outstanding performers in the just-ended Premiership campaign.
Ditlhokwe’s consistent displays didn’t go unnoticed as Chiefs moved swiftly to snap up him up on pre-contract in January 2022.
The left-footed centre-back made 26 appearances in the league for Matsatsantsa and contributed two goals.
With Ditlhokwe set for a big move at Amakhosi, Hlatshwayo has revealed what he told the 24-year-old defender.
Hlatshwayo is no stranger to the pressure of playing for the big club having played for Orlando Pirates during the 2021/21 and 2021/22 campaign.
THULANI HLATSHWAYO ISSUE ADVICE TO KAIZER CHIEFS-BOUND THATAYAONE DITLHOKWE
“I told him [Thatoyaone Ditlhokwe] that he reminds me of my partnership with Buhle Mkhwanazi at Bidvest Wits,” said Hlatshwayo.
“When you look at that partnership, it was the core of the team, from defence, midfielders until the strikers.
“So he also has resemblance of me when I was still a youngster. I was also shy and not wanting to talk to the media, just doing his job quietly.
“He’s strong boy, he is the captain of Botswana. I’m not saying he should stay at SuperSport but he needs to be the legend of Botswana.
“When I first heard of his move to Chiefs, I told him to give SuperSport his all in these last games because they brought him to the country.
“I told him that there’s lot of things that are gonna come his away because I’ve been there and done that.
“So for him is just to stay humble. They’ll want you to change their fortunes and keep cleansheets,” he added.
Meanwhile, the Tshwane-based side finished third on the league table to qualify for the CAF Confederation Cup next season.
