Nqoba is alive, The Wife actor Abdul Khoza is not leaving the show, producers confirm.

Abdul Khoza, who plays the role of Nqoba Zulu on the Showmax drama series The Wife, is not leaving the show. Despite the actor teasing his legion of fans to announce departure from The Wife cast, showrunners have, through entertainment commentator Phil Mphela announced that Nqoba is still part of the Zulu brothers’ story.

In The Wife, Nqoba is the second eldest of the Zulu brothers; he resembles a ruthless yet comic character in a relationship with Mandisa (Zikhona Sodlaka). Famous for courting trouble for the family, Nqoba values family bond, sacrifice and respect. Together with his fellow Zulu brothers, they run a taxi business that they use as a decoy to clean their illegally obtained money. Nqoba and his partner Mandisa runs a separate tavern business. Famous for his style, fashion sense and combination with Mandisa, he quickly becomes the show’s fans’ favourite such that his exit will be detrimental to show ratings.

The Zulu family’s rivalry with a powerful Majola family in the taxi industries cost much more than its benefit. Unnecessary power struggles and revenge missions resulted in losing lives in both families.

The Majola brothers were outraged when Nqoba was installed as the chairperson of the Taxi Association to lead in his elder brother Nkosana’s place.

A war broke out at the taxi rank; one of the Zulu boys, Qhawe, played by Kwenzo Ngcobo, had destroyed all the taxis at their packing bay overnight. Nqoba was fatally short by Gwaza Majola and battled for his life in the ICU; the word on the street says that Nqoba succumbed to the gunshot pointing towards the actors’ exit from the show.

In a now-deleted social media post, Abdul Khoza confirmed his exit and thanked fellow cast members for their time together.

“It’s been an amazing journey with you all on #TheWifeShowmax Thank you to the entire cast and crew for embracing me to the fullest. I shall miss you all and wish you a greater journey ahead. You have inspired my career with this amazing show, ngiyabonga mina uNqobizitha Zulu lo, sengihembe. Heee heee!!.” he announced.

The Wife show producers clarified the situation and revealed that fans’ favourite Nqoba is not leaving the drama series. Abdul Khoza’s stunt courted the attention of The Wife fans; hence he announced that his character is not dying on The Wife; he promised fireworks in the shows’ season 3 coming soon.
