The most watched South African soapies in 2022 have been ranked. The numbers are in, and your Soapies are ranked from the highest to the lowest per the viewers. Check out which ones are doing well and are diving.

Soapies keep their viewers locked on their screens with exciting characters and storylines, viewers depend on these soapies for entertainment (Uzalo), and some are educational, like Skeem Saam.

Did you know that the same Soapies depend on the viewers to survive? And it is the survival of the fittest out there.

Soapies also go through a process of auditing, where the numbers of their viewers are counted, which will determine if the Soapie is worth keeping.

A few months ago, viewers were shocked to learn of the cancellation of the Queen and other soapies like Legacy on Mnet. One of the reasons behind that is the viewership numbers dropping and channels deciding to seek new material to keep the viewership during the time.

The numbers are in, and It’s time to see how our favourite soapies are doing.

Let’s start with Uzalo

The KwaMashu gang is doing the most and has seen impressive growth in numbers in June of 2022, peaking at 6.1 million viewers from 5.8 million in May of 2022, gaining over three hundred thousand more viewers.

Muvhango

Muvhango’s viewership dived a downward spiral from 2021, losing 5.7% of its viewers until 2022. Muvhango peaked at 9.1 million viewers in June, 500 thousand fewer viewers than May. It looks like the Vha-Kwevho ancestors need to talk with Vhafuwi about this.

The third show has already been cancelled, but surprisingly the ratings say it still holds its viewers captive. Can you guess what it is?

It’s The Queen

Brutus and his boys have managed to keep interested in viewership for the soapie. Viewers were shocked when news of the show’s cancellation headlines a few months ago.

The show is considered low compared to the other shows on TV, but it is considered to be doing relatively well, seeing that it is still rated the second most watched show on DSTV. The Queen brought in less than a million viewers peaking at 940 thousand. The show attempted to rev up viewership by introducing the Khoza brothers, and it looks like they tried to do the trick by bringing some viewership to the show.

Umndeni

Umndeni is one of the most watched shows on Moja Love. The show is bringing in viewers from everywhere. Umndeni has been bringing in the numbers for three months in Moja love. The show rakes in up to 600 thousand viewers an episode; now that’s top tier.

There you have it. It’s ultimately all about where you turn that dial to every evening.
