Tembo – Why Mngomezulu Hasn’t Played For Bay Yet

New Richards Bay striker Sinethemba Mngomezulu has not yet completed his move to the club and that is why he has not played a single match for the side this season, coach Kaitano Tembo confirmed.

This after Tembo revealed he needs a striker to bang in on goals as they have been goal shy this season which is one they have scored.

Mngomezulu watched the match against Mamelodi Sundowns at King Zwelithini Stadium in the stands on Wednesday, leaving everyone wondering why he has not featured in the side when they are struggling up top.

Mngomezulu, who is big and strong, was signed from Stellenbosch FC during the off-season to offer options in the attack for Tembo’s side, after scoring four goals in 24 matches last season for Steve Barker’s side.

“There is still an issue with his transfer,” replied Tembo to iDiski Times when asked why Mngomezulu hasn’t played, while at the same time admitting that he is short of strikers to score goals.

“I’m not so sure what it is, but he is not yet eligible for us to be able to use him and that is why you see he is not in the squad.”

In that Sundowns match, which has seen Bay without win in 18 league matches – the same as Free State Stars in 2016, Somila Ntsundwana was left concussed and left the game in the 40th minute.

He adds to injury worries of the club, such as Sibusiso Mthethwa, Abel Mabaso, Mpho Mathebula and Lucky Mohomi.

As they have failed to win a match in eight months now, Bay are grounded 15th on the DStv Premiership table with just one point after four matches.

Tembo, despite things not looking good for them, retained the hopes that Bay will eventually get the win they deserve.

“The way ethic, the way we fought, we worked hard against Sundowns as a team,” added Tembo.

“The same way we played against AmaZulu, like I mentioned. It is a little bit difficult that when we get into good areas, sometimes with a team like Sundowns and the quality they have, they get one opportunity and they take it.

“With us, we need to try and create more chances for us to be able to score goals and I think we are on the right track. Hopefully we will start scoring goals.”

Bay are next in action against Tembo’s former club, Sekhukhune United, who they host at King Zwelithini Stadium on Wednesday (19:30).
