Bafana Bafana star Percy Tau was named in the Al Ahly starting line-up for their top-of-the-table clash against Zamalek SC.
Tau was a notable absence from the Egyptian giants squad earlier this week when they thrashed Eastern Company 4-1 but the club stated he was allowed to rest following international duty.
The South African forward’s future was put in doubt due to Pitso Mosimane’s exit but the player and his agent are said to have reaffirmed his commitment to the Red Devils in local media.
And he was reinstated in the starting XI by interim coach Samy Komsan for arguably one of the biggest matches this season at the Al Ahly Stadium against the league leaders.
At the break, the Red Devils held a slender 2-0 lead with Mohamed Sherif profiting from a defensive lapse of concentration to open the scoring.
As things stand, Ahly trail the reigning champions by one point with three games in hand in what appears to be a title race that should go down to the wire this season with more than 13 rounds of fixtures remaining.
