Dane Kim Poulsen has been sacked as Tanzania’s Taifa Stars coach immediately following some uninspiring results.
Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) released a statement on Monday confirming its decision to part ways with the coach.
“The Football Federation has reached an agreement to remove Taifa team coach Kim Poulsen from the technical bench along with his assistants. Both parties have reached an agreement after a joint session. Poulsen will continue to remain in the Tanzania youth team until his contract expires,” a statement from TFF reads.
“At this time, Taifa Stars bench will be under coach Honor Janza assisted by Meck Maxime and goalkeeping coach Juma Kaseja.”
The Dane has been released two days after the Taifa Stars suffered a 0-1 loss to rivals Uganda’s Cranes in the African Nations Championship (CHAN) final qualifying round first leg match over the weekend.
Polsen had returned to the East African country on a second stint after impressing during his tenure over a decade ago.
Polsen has since been relegated to the Tanzania youth national team role for the rest of his contract duration.
He has now been replaced in an interim capacity by Janza, who is a former Zambia technical director, caretaker coach and assistant coach.
The Zambian works as Namungo FC coach in the Tanzanian league. He is also a CAF coaches’ instructor.
The former Zambia’s Napsa Stars technical director will work with Maxime and Kaseja, who is a former great Tanzania great keeper.
Kaseja had a distinguished career after having played for Young Africans and the senior national team for over a decade.
Tanzania are now set to travel to Kampala for the African Nations Championship (CHAN) final qualifying round second leg match.
Uganda won the game through Travis Mutyaba’s lone late goal on Sunday at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam.
