Sundowns Only Three Matches Away from Surpassing Kaizer Chiefs’ Record

Published

on

South African champions Mamelodi Sundowns are just four games away from breaking an old, proud Kaizer Chiefs PSL record. Sundowns are currently unbeaten in 29 PSL matches after their 1-0 win away to Richards Bay on Wednesday. If the Brazilians can avoid defeat in upcoming DStv Premiership clashes against Polokwane City, Orlando Pirates, and Stellenbosch, they’ll beat that Kaizer Chiefs record set all the way back in 2005.

Mamelodi Sundowns’ Coach Praises Leadership

Mamelodi Sundowns coach Rhulani Mokwena has praised the leadership of Themba Zwane as the Tshwane giants’ captain. Will Rulani’s brilliant Brazilians get the job done and snatch another record away from the Glamour Boys?

Billiat’s Amakhosi Stint Ends in Disappointment

Speaking of Sundowns and Chiefs, 33-year-old Khama Billiat has been a player of undoubted pedigree, but he’s leaving South Africa agonizingly short of an amazing personal record. The Zimbabwean has notched 97 goals in the PSL era, so he won’t be joining the esteemed 100 club. Only seven players belong to that elite class, namely Siyabonga Nomvete, Daniel Mudau, Mabhuti Khanyeza, Tico-Tico Bucuane, Collins Mbesuma, Bradley Grobler and Peter Shalulile.

In Case You Missed It

  • Five clubs are interested in disgraced Man United star Mason Greenwood.
  • A potentially fruitful alliance between Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates.
  • MTN8: Semi-finals dates, venues and kickoff times confirmed.
  • Billiat to link up with Percy Tau?
  • Lepasa 2-1 Chiefs.
