Mamelodi Sundowns and CR Belouizdad have announced their starting line-ups for this afternoon’s CAF Champions League quarter-final second leg at the Loftus Versfeld Stadium.
A week ago, Sundowns handed the Algerian champions, who had only conceded two goals throughout the group stages, their heaviest defeat in two years and two months.
Coincidently, the last time Belouizdad conceded four goals or more in an official game was also against Sundowns – back in 2021, when they were hammered 5-1 by Sundowns in a CAF Champions League group match in February 2021.
Masandawana have one foot in the semi-final but will know they need to finish the job, with defending champions Wydad Athletic Club waiting in the semi-finals.
The Moroccan side defeated Simba SC on penalties to secure their fifth successive semi-final.
Belouizdad, meanwhile, have a mountain mountain to climb and would need to score four unanswered goals to make it to the next round.
These two sides faced each other on three occasions, with Downs wining two, scoring nine goals, but the hosts will be warned as they lost their last home game against the Ligue 1 leaders 2-0.
Here is how they line up:
Sundowns XI: Williams; Mudau, Mvala, Boutouil, Modiba; Mokoena, Mbule, Maema; Zwane; Shalulile, Morena.
Subs: Onyango, De Reuck, Lebusa, Zungu, Sirino, Mkhulise, Mashego, Maboe, Kutumela.
CR Belouizdad XI: Geundouz; Keddad, Bouchar, Abdeaslem, Laouafi, Belkhither, Rebai; Selmi, Bouras; Iwuala, Wamba.
