Sukazi Confirms Two Signings From Europe

TS Galaxy have secured two new signings from Europe ahead of the new DStv Premiership season, Chairman Tim Sukazi has confirmed.

Galaxy, who narrowly avoided relegation awarded Bosnian coach Sead Ramovic a new three-year contract last month and is seemingly looking for continuity.

With Augustin Kwem and Ethan Brooks allowed to join AmaZulu, Sinethemba Mngomezulu and Sihle Nduli sold to Stellenbosch, along with the release of striker Wayde Lekay, question marks were raised over the ambitions of the club.

But Galaxy has roped in experienced midfield duo Sibusiso Vilakazi and Xola Mlambo after their exits from Mamelodi Sundowns and AmaZulu respectively and Sukazi says they’re not done yet.

“We’re not done [signing] yet, we’ve secured two signatures from Europe, we’re busy with their papers, hopefully, we can get that right so they can join up with us as quickly as possible,” Sukazi confirmed to a question by iDiski Times at their media event. “But this is the team you see here.”

Sukazi went on to hail the arrival of five-time league winner Vilakazi who’s already become a fan favourite before kicking a ball in an official fixture for the Rockets this season.

“He brings leadership, holistically on and off the pitch, Vila is not only a good player but a good human and soldier to have, with the experience… at TS Galaxy we’ve learnt if you bring in players with the right mentality – it influences the rest and influences the club.

“Case in point is the Vuyo Mere deal during the very difficult time in January, we were on 13 points. We needed 17 points to escape the axe. We had 13 points after 17 games and the odds were against us.

“We got Mere and it was clear he was not coming to play regularly, we weren’t expecting him to play much but to lead, so Vila has a lot of that, he’s a good servant of the game, he’s done well wherever he’s played, he wants to be here, he sees value in the club and he will contribute a lot going forward.”
