Substation vandalism leaves several agricultural holdings in the dark in Ekurhuleni
The vandalization of the Gravett substation has led to parts of Ekurhuleni and a number of agricultural holdings outside of Heidelberg being left in the dark.
The damage was so extensive that Eskom is reporting that the whole substation needs to be rebuilt, something that they hope to have done within a week.
The power utility has expressed concerns recently over the increase in cases of theft and vandalism of electrical infrastructure in Gauteng. They have recently partnered with law enforcement agencies and communities across the
province in an effort combo to this specific crime.
