DStv Premiership strugglers Sekhukhune United have announced the departure of head coach Kaitano Tembo with immediate effect.

Tembo’s departure does not come as a surprise after a string of poor results recently. Babina Noko finds themselves second from the bottom of the log after 12 matches.

TEMBO’S RECORD

He was in charge of 12 matches winning just two, with 5 draws and 5 defeats. During his tenure as coach, Sekhukhune scored 10 and conceded 13 goals.

“I wish to thank Coach Kaitano for his dedication and hard work whilst at the Club,” said CEO Jonas Malatji.

“Ever the professional that he is, and with his impeccable work ethic, the decision to part ways was an extremely difficult one. Sport in general and football, in particular, is results driven, and this remains true for the club that finds itself in a very precarious position in the DSTV Premiership,” added Malatji.

“The Board and Management at the Club wishes Coach Kaitano the very best in his future endeavours.”

Coach Kaitano thanked the Chairman and Board for having given him an opportunity at the club.

“I wish to thank the players for their dedication, the support of the Technical Team and Support Staff, and wish the Club and its supporters the very best.”

The club also announced that in the meantime they will begin their search for a new coach. The new coach will have plenty of time to acclimatise at the club. Sekhukhune will only be back in action on 31 December after the FIFA World Cup.

Luc Eymael is also one of the coaches rumoured to have been earmarked to take over the vacant position, although nothing concrete is on the table.
