Cape Town Spurs won’t be playing Motsepe Foundation Championship until November after their remaining games for the month were postponed by the PSL to allow five of the clubs’ players to be part of David Notoane’s national u23-squad.

When Spurs won their match against La Masia on Monday, it was confirmed that the club would only resume league action in November, when they host Venda Football Academy on the 5th of November.

Spurs were due to play Tshakhuma and Black Leopards away, as well as host Uthongathi in the next two weeks. The two away fixtures have been rescheduled for November, while the Uthongathi game has been moved to January.

Lincoln Vyver, Rushwin Dortley Khaya Mfecane, Chumani Butsaka and Ashley Cupido flew out on Monday evening as they joined up with Notoane’s squad in preparation for the two-legged qualifiers against Togo.

Spurs coach Shaun Bartlett confirmed the five would be heading off, and hopes for a successful injury-free camp.

Ja, it’s nice to obviously have guys representing the club,” Barlett told iDiski Times.

“But as a coach, you’re always mindful and pray that they come back injury free.

“Because these are five guys that is obviously for us, it starters, core players. Even though they’re under 23, they are core players as to what we want to achieve.

“So we wish them all the luck and the best going, to the qualifiers for the Afghan but my only prayer is for them to come back injury free.”
