The award-winning series returns for its second season with CANAL+ and STUDIOCANAL announcing a wider global rollout that will see the South African production reach audiences across Africa and Europe.

From South Africa to the world

Season 2 will be available across French-, English- and Portuguese-speaking Africa, as well as France, its overseas territories, Switzerland, the Netherlands and Belgium.

According to IOL, the series will also be released in five language editions, including the original English, Kaaps and Afrikaans versions, French, Swahili and Amharic dubs, as well as Portuguese subtitles.

In Africa, the original version will air in markets including South Africa, Nigeria, Ghana, Uganda and Zambia from 25 October 2026. Swahili-dubbed episodes will be available in Kenya and Tanzania, while an Amharic version will reach audiences in Ethiopia.

The international rollout continues from 26 October 2026, when the series moves onto CANAL+ channels and its app in France, its overseas territories, Switzerland, the Netherlands and Belgium.

Ethan’s journey continues

Season 2 sees Cantona James return as Ethan, who has left the Cape Flats for Johannesburg with his crew as they establish themselves in the city’s spinning scene.

The characters find themselves navigating newfound fame, love and the possibility of stability, but their progress is threatened when Ethan’s former gang orchestrates a brutal ambush.

The eight-part season explores themes including power, violence and grief, while continuing to showcase South Africa’s distinctive spinning culture.

For Cantona, Ethan’s move from Cape Town to Johannesburg also carries personal significance.

“As a Jozi boy playing a character who moves from Cape Town to Johannesburg, there’s something deeply meaningful about telling this story,” Cantona said, according to DStv.

New faces join the cast

Season 2 introduces several new characters, including Clementine Mosimane as Ma Sithole, Mondli Makhoba as her bodyguard, Aphiwe Mkefe as Ethan’s new rival Sayi and Luyanda Zwane as Amahle.

Director Jaco Bouwer also returns for the new season, with Joachim Landau and Benjamin Hoffman serving as co-creators and showrunner, respectively. Matthew Jankes and Sean Steinberg return as head writers.

Jaco previously described the new season as personal, saying it explores “the scars we carry” alongside the action and drama.

When does Spinners Season 2 premiere?

South African viewers can watch Spinners Season 2 on Mzansi Magic (DStv Channel 161) from 25 October 2026 at 20:00. The eight-part drama will then continue its international rollout across more than 45 countries.

The series is a co-production between MultiChoice and CANAL+, with STUDIOCANAL handling international distribution.

The global rollout marks another milestone for the South African series as its story, characters and portrayal of spinning culture reach audiences well beyond Mzansi.
