SOUTH AFRICANS HEAD TO THE POLLS AS VOTING DAY GETS UNDERWAY
South Africans are heading to the polls today, 4 November 2026, to cast their votes in the Local Government Elections (LGE 2026).
Voters across the country will elect municipal representatives responsible for local governance and service delivery, including water, sanitation, roads and electricity.
President Cyril Ramaphosa and First Lady Dr Tshepo Motsepe are expected to cast their ballots at Hyde Park High School in Sandton, Johannesburg, at 10:00.
The elections provide citizens with an opportunity to shape the leadership of their municipalities and hold elected representatives accountable for their performance.
The Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) has urged voters to participate in the democratic process as polling stations open across the country.
