Somizi Mhlongo to make his runway debut as a designer

Media personality and businessman Somizi Mhlongo has proven to be a jack of all trades as he has ventured into the world of fashion as a fashion designer.

Somizi has showcased his skills in designing and sewing dresses for the likes of Bahumi. He also showcased his cooking skills on his own cooking show named Dinner With Somizi where he invited celebrities and cooked up the storm. He further published a cookbook titled, Dinner At Somizi’s – I Am Not a Chef where he shared his recipes. Recently, he launched his clothing brand, Sompire.

The former Idols SA judge recently revealed that he will make his runway debut in a few days at the Durban Fashion Fair, with his designs following the theme of ‘The Awakening’.

Somizi took to his Instagram page to share his excitement. He captioned his post: “10 days to my first runway show. To say I’m super proud of myself is an understatement. Hayi Shem I’m bold and brave. See you at the Durban Fashion Fair,” he penned.

 

He shared his gratitude to Durban Fashion Fair for the platform to showcase his designs.

Instagram users weighed in:

One user said: “I remember seeing an interview of you saying you want to be rich, and you just proved to yourself and us that it won’t happen overnight but through being in competition with yourself and staying consistent no matter the challenges you face. You are the face of no matter how many times you fall get up and try again.”

Another one said: “You are such an inspiration.”

While another one said: “You artistic creative, no wonder you hate school, you are natural born creative, right brain orientated human. Modern day Picasso.”
