On 13 July, Minnie Dlamini took a moment to reflect on a wholesome nostalgic memory, sharing personal stories paired with an adorable childhood photo.

MINNIE DLAMINI MARKS CHILDHOOD MEMORY WITH CUTE PHOTO

The award-winning media personality shared rare insights into her childhood on Instagram, such as her mother’s influence on who she has become and the origins of her storytelling passion.

Minnie revealed that her self-expression was sparked by various factors, such as experimenting with her mother’s clothes.

“I’m only a few months older here than my son is now, and I remember this little girl so vividly. What you can’t see is that I’d taken one of my mom’s sheer scarves and wrapped it around my legs. She let me experiment in her closet as much as I wanted,” she began.

The second paragraph zooms in on how her mother shaped her into the ambitious person she has become. The photo was taken during her mother’s photoshoot, where she slotted in both Minnie and her late brother, Khosini Dlamini.

“Another thing you can’t see is that I’ve cropped my late younger brother out of this photo. Mom made us take a few shots together after her shoot,” she wrote.

“The level this woman would take her assignments inspires a desire to overachieve, that has never quite left me,” she added.

STORYTELLING HAS ALWAYS BEEN IN MINNIE’S VEINS

In retrospect, Minnie acknowledges that she greatly enjoyed learning about her heritage through her mother’s eyes while working on a university project focusing on Zulu traditional attire and its historical meaning.

These rich experiences provided Minnie with a wealth of cultural references for her creativity and self-expression.

“These images were taken while my mom was doing a university project on traditional Zulu attire, what it represents, when it’s worn, and how it reflects the different stages of our lives. I was endlessly curious, so I remember this project well. I remember the books, the stories, and the pride I felt learning about our culture through her eyes,” she wrote.

“Looking back now, I can see that my love for storytelling, identity, and self-expression started long before I ever stepped in front of a camera,” she added.

MINNIE DLAMINI TURNS 36

This reflection follows Minnie’s 36th birthday on 7 July, when she mentioned that she feels more youthful than ever.

“I feel younger, hotter, more powerful and more myself than ever,” she wrote.

Her birthday tribute indicated that she thrives on living her best life and is looking forward to the woman she is becoming.

“I’m so proud of the woman I’ve become and even more excited about the woman I’m still becoming,” she added.
