The company happens to be the biggest supplier of tobacco in South Africa. Well, they have had their share fair of controversy. They have been dupped as the Italian Mafia, and it is alleged that they are also involved in the illicit tobacco trade. In the past years, he has had some of his assets seized by SARS.

A few years ago, Adriano Mazzotti became one of the most infamous names in the cigarette smuggling underworld. He was once alleged to be linked to Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma and her political ambitions. However, she denied any association with the tobacco kingpin.

Mzansi was introduced to the Mazzotti after they footed the registration of EFF with a whooping R200 000 in 2013. In the following year, one of Carnilinx’s executive directors, Kyle Phillips, helped Malema to get rid of his tax woes with a cool R1 million’ advance’. However, the rumour mill has it that Julius’ wife Mantwa also lived in a Hyde Park property owned by Mazzotti. In the mix of things, the family’s net worth has been implicated in the equation.

Despite all daring rumours against them, the family hasn’t been charged or brought before law courts for any wrongdoing. According to Malema, their money is clean. Unconfirmed reports show that as of 2022, they have an estimated net worth of R990 million. However, some sources have it that they have since passed the billion mark.
