Burna Boy, the renowned Nigerian singer, was originally scheduled to perform in Johannesburg, Gauteng on 23 September. However, on Tuesday 19 September, Stadium Management South Africa informed suite owners that the event organisers – Ternary Media Group – have decided to postpone the show.

The concert has now been rescheduled and will take place on 16 December.

“On the morning of September 19, 2023, Ternary Media Group, the event promoter, notified Stadium Management South Africa and SAIL that the highly anticipated Burna Boy live music concert, which was initially planned to take place at FNB Stadium on September 23, 2023, had been postponed,” read the official statement.

Mzansi’s Reaction

The new date for the concert has left South Africans unimpressed as it falls within “Ke Dezemba” in South Africa, which is a period known for being the holiday season. Here are some of the reactions from the public:

  • User @ADS_ZAR commented: “He probably didn’t hire South Africans for his event otherwise, he would know better.”
  • User @stax_masiza wrote: “Mzansi will postpone him 💀.”
  • User @MissyyyLP pointed out: “He doesn’t know Gauteng is empty during that time🤣🤣🤣.”
  • User @Lawrence_Sebeko added: “His team definitely doesn’t consist of any South Africans if he did then they would’ve told him that’s a bad date 😂.”

These reactions indicate a general sentiment of disappointment and frustration among South Africans regarding the rescheduling of Burna Boy’s concert.
