American R&B and soul singer-songwriter Rum. Gold is set to return to South Africa for a two-night live experience, giving local fans another opportunity to experience his intimate, emotionally charged sound in person.

His music is characterised by warm vocals, introspective songwriting and understated production, with songs such as Call It What You Want, Waiting For, and AM/FM becoming among his best-known releases.
A strong connection with South African audiences
Rum. Gold’s relationship with South African listeners has already proved remarkably strong. When he announced his first South African performance in 2023, tickets for the Johannesburg show at The Marabi Club reportedly sold out within hours.
The demand was so high that fans publicly called for a larger venue or additional performances.
Sunday World reports that his 2023 South African debut formed part of the Extended Stay experience, a collaboration involving Johannesburg-based record label and management company STAY LOW and Hallmark House.
The response demonstrated that his appeal extends well beyond the American R&B market. South African audiences have embraced the singer’s intimate approach to soul music, making his return particularly significant for fans of alternative R&B and neo-soul.
Since his first South African appearance, Rum. Gold’s catalogue has continued to grow. His latest album, Is There Anybody Home?, was released on 27 March 2026, while he has also released recent singles including Asleep At The Wheel.

2 Nights in South Africa
With two nights planned in South Africa, fans will have more opportunity to catch the Washington-born singer live and experience material from across his catalogue, including his newer 2026 work.
He joins Isaiah Rashad and Sinéad Harnett on the ‘In The City’ stage for two dates this October.
His return comes at a time when South Africa continues to attract international R&B and soul artists, reflecting the country’s strong appetite for the genre and its growing role on international touring circuits.
Given the reception to his first Mzansi appearance, the two-night run should be an important moment for South Africa’s alternative R&B community and another indication of Rum Gold’s growing international reach.
