Royal AM Set To Announce New Coach

DStv Premiership high-flyers Royal AM are set to announce John Maduka’s successor next week.

AM’s first season in the top flight was one to remember following their third-place finish and qualification into the CAF Confederation Cup. Maduka took charge of the side after the club bought Bloemfontein Celtic’s franchise, the Malawian making the move from Bloem, where he had been in charge prior.

While ‘Thwihli Thwahla’ started the season on a slow note losing both of their two opening games, but soon everything was set and the team settled, ‘EzikaMamKhize’ fought hard and went on to win their next four games in a row.

The 51-year-old mentor didn’t only do well for the team for the League, but he excelled with them in the Nedbank Cup where they went as far as reaching the semi-finals where they faced eventual winners Mamelodi Sundowns.

Earlier this month Maduka handed in his resignation letter and he was unveiled by Maritzburg United shortly after.

Royal AM CEO Sinky Mnisi told iDiski Times they will announce the new coach in the coming days.

“We will announce the new coach on Monday next week,” Mnisi told iDiski Times

A close source informed iDiski Times that former Lamontville Golden Arrows coach Khabo Zondo might take charge of the team as the head coach while Gavin Hunt is also in the picture. By the looks of things, Dan Malesela, who was a candidate, is now out of the running.
