Orlando Pirates head coach Jose Riveiro admits he’s aware the club’s supporters want results and not talks about the processes to attain success at the club.
Pirates failed to score for the fourth time in their last five games across all competitions as they were held to a ten-man Richards Bay at Orlando Stadium on Saturday evening.
This after the anguish of the 2-0 defeat in mid-week to Sekhukhune United, which has severely dented their title chase this season as they trail Mamelodi Sundowns by five points and played one game more.
When asked by iDiski Times what message he can send to the fans amid the growing frustrations over the lack of goals, six in ten games, and lack of intensity in the latest draw, he said it’s too early to draw conclusions about the season yet and emphasised that the players are giving their all – but it will take time for things to click.
“I think so far every Pirates fan can feel and I can guarantee [to] them, they can be proud of the efforts that the boys are doing every single day,” Riveiro said in the post-match press conference.
“The level of commitment, it’s so high and I’m extremely surprised about how quick the guys are reducing times, the proper times of every process when you start to build something from the base as we did.
“There are many things I’ve said before that make me feel extremely optimistic about the future of the team, we proved how competitive we can be in every single scenario in both competitions we’ve played at the moment.
“I know that fans are… they want to see the team winning games and not talk about the process when we don’t get the result we all were looking for. It’s not maybe what they want to hear I know – I’m on the map, I know where I am.
“The only thing we can do is work like super professionals every morning and that’s what the guys are doing and the only thing we can do, if you want success in life. What they are doing is exceptional and the results will be the consequence of that.
“So let’s see where we are, all of us, at the end of the season and let’s do the deep analysis at that moment and not after nine, ten or eleven. games.”
Fouth-place Pirates will now turn their attention to AmaZulu and Golden Arrows in their next two league games before the second leg MTN8 semi-final against Mamelodi Sundowns.
