Defender Tsepo Rikhotso, who was recently released by Royal AM, is on his way to join Sekhukhune United, iDiski Times has learnt.

Rikhotso was recently released by Royal AM alongside Lantshane Phalane and Ricardo Nascimento amongst others.

Rikhotso was part of Bloemfontein Celtic side when Royal AM boss Shauwn Mkhize purchased the status, forming the amalgamation of the two clubs at the beginning of last season.

The 30-year-old featured in 17 matches last term when Royal AM finished third and also reached the Nedbank Cup semi-final, losing to eventual winners Mamelodi Sundowns, scoring just one goal.

This season, he started 13 of his 15 league matches, two in Nedbank Cup and his last appearance was against Cape Town City last month as John Maduka’s side lost 2-1 at Chatsworth Stadium.

In all matches with the KwaZulu-Natal club, Rikhotso featured in 32 with a return of the solitary goal in the process, but his time at Thwihli Thwahla has come to an end.

“Rikhotso is set to join Sekhukhune United,” said a source.

At Sekhukhune, if the move comes to reality, Rikhotso will be reunited with Victor Letsoalo, who was the-go-to guy in last season’s success of the Royal AM, scoring 15 league goals to finish second in the DStv Premiership scoring charts.

Another player Rikhotso will be reunited with is former teammate at Sekhukhune is Given Mashikinya, who was also an engine with Phalane in the midfield last season for Royal AM.

On the other hand, Sekhukhune are in the final of the Ke Yona Cup where they will meet Orlando Pirates at Loftus Stadium on 27 May. Rikhotso lost the final this competition with Celtic in the 2019/20 season to Sundowns.
