Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has confirmed that the club have triggered one-year extension clauses in the contracts of forward Marcus Rashford, right-back Diogo Dalot, midfielder Fred and left-back Luke Shaw.

All four players were set to see their deals expire at the end of the current season which is June next year.

According to the club, “the decision has been made to exercise those respective additions, meaning that the quartet are now all under contract until at least the summer of 2024.”

“Yes, I can confirm it,” club’s manager Ten Hag said.

“We are happy because the squad is going in the right direction and those players [have] a massive contribution in that direction.”

“So, that’s why we came to those decisions, I’m sure they are the right decisions.

“We want to construct a team for the future, so for longer years, and those players have to be part of it,” he added.

All four players were part of their respective countries in the FIFA World Cup in Qatar that ended on Sunday. All their nations crashed out at one stage – the quarter finals.

As they are very much part of the side, they are set to feature when United face Nottingham Forest on Tuesday at home.
