Coach Kaitano Tembo’s reign with Sekhukhune United has started in earnest ahead of the forthcoming DStv Premiership season.
The former SuperSport United mentor presided over Sekhukhune’s impressive 1-1 draw in a friendly against Namibia’s Brave Warriors on Friday afternoon in Pretoria.
Babina Noko gave a good account of themselves in the strength testing match, according to club spokesperson Thina Ramantswana.
“Mokwena scored our goal. They had a good game. Coach Kaitano Tembo has settled in well; he is busy with pre-season training and we will see how it unfolds next season,” she tells FARPost.
Namibia Football Association (NFA) confirmed that the Brave Warriors dated Sekhukhune to fine-tune for the Cosafa Cup quarterfinal clash against Madagascar in Durban on July 12 2022.
NFA says head coach Collin Benjamin had a full squad at his disposal for the friendly following the arrival in Pretoria camp of Uuetuuru Kambato and Tjipenandjambi Karuoombe.
“Quite a positive mood from the lads since our arrival here, and as far as the friendly is concerned, spirit is high with everyone ready to turn up for the match, ” Benjamin is quoted saying.
Sekhukhune have signed Thamsanqa Masiya, Lesego Sebetlela, Trésor Yamba Yamba, Wonderboy Makhubu, Badra Sangaré, Katlego Mkhabela and Daniel Cardoso as part of the process of replacing the 14 they released weeks ago.
