Venda Football Academy have confirmed they have parted ways with head coach Johnny Ferreira with immediate effect.
The surprise decision comes in the wake of their debut season in the Premier Soccer League (PSL) in which they featured in the GladAfrica Championship.
Despite leading them to a fifth-place finish and challenging for promotion for most of the season, the club have opted to move in a new direction.
“Venda Football Academy thanks Ferreira for his contribution to the team and wish him well in his future endeavours,” read part of the club statement released on Monday afternoon.
VFA will be one of six teams from Limpopo competing in the second-tier next season after the promotion of Magesi from the ABC Motsepe League, the others included Black Leopards, Polokwane City, Baroka and TTM.
