Former Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane has responded to calls by Kaizer Chiefs fans to bring him to Naturena.
Mosimane is facing an uncertain future at Al Ahli Saudi FC, despite leading the club back to the Saudi Pro League and winning the Yelo League title.
However, the club’s management would seemingly prefer to go with an European coach into the 2023/24 season and are understood to have not activated a one year extension clause in his contract.
But Mosimane has claimed that the one-year clause was automatically activated when he gained promotion. He further revealed that he and his technical team have not been paid since January.
While all signs point towards a break-up between Mosimane and his current club, he was now asked about rumours linking him with a move to Naturena.
“No [they haven’t said anything],” ‘Jingles’ told Skepe Matsebane on POWERSportExtra.
“Ask my agent, my agent has never told me anything about Kaizer Chiefs. They told me about a few things at this point in time.”
Mosimane, though, was further asked whether it might be time to come home to South Africa.
“Anything is possible, you can’t be surprised, I like projects.
“If there is a project, if someone has a vision of he wants it and I have my way to say ‘it can go like this, it can go step one, step two, step three…”
When asked whether he would be interested, if Chiefs came calling with a “project”, he insisted “they haven’t offered” him such an opportunity.
When quizzed how he would respond if Amakhosi did make an offer, Mosimane replied: “I don’t know, we will have to see. We have to think first.

“You also have to know it’s not easy to come back to Africa. Because sometimes you want to win trophies, you want to win the Champions League with another team, you want to win trophies in North Africa.
“I always wanted to be in North Africa, I always wanted to be in Morocco… Then I had an opportunity to come to Asia. So Africa is not really at the moment an exciting project, because if I come what do I have to win?
“But it depends on what the vision is…”
Meanwhile, Chiefs are understood to have made their own assessment of the 2022/23 campaign, which was Arthur Zwane’s first as the club’s head coach.
So far, Amakhosi have not made an announcement whether there will be changes in the technical team, with Zwane expected to continue.
