Pirates Slap Multi-Million Price-Tag On Saleng?

Orlando Pirates have reportedly told potential suitors that Monnapule Saleng would cost them $4 million (R75 million) to prise him away from South Africa.

This comes in the wake of reported interest from Saudi Pro League side Al Nassr, but it appears a move is very unlikely to be happening as they have now filled all five foreign spots.

iDiski Times has been informed clubs from Morocco and Qatar also expressed interest but were reluctant to make an official move due to the current asking price.

Given the fact that some of the top talents in North Africa have been securing similar transfer figures when moving to the Gulf, it comes as no surprise that the Buccaneers are holding firm for one of their most prized assets at present.

Last season Saleng won the MTN8 Last Man Standing and the PSL Players’ Player of the Season award after scoring 15 goals and registering 11 assists in 30 games.

The 25-year-old joined Pirates from Free State Stars in 2021 but was initially sent out on loan to Moroka Swallows in 2021/22.

He is currently in Bucs’ pre-season camp in Spain, where they will face Maccabi Tel Aviv on 13 July, Independiente del Valle on 15 July and UD Las Palmas on July 19.

This story first appeared in the rumour section of the iDiski Times newspaper, edition 112.
