Orlando Pirates have announced their starting XI to face Djabal Club from Comoros in the first preliminary round of the CAF Champions League.
The Buccaneers return to the competition for the first time since the 2018/19 campaign when they got knocked out in the group stages.
Jose Riveiro’s men enter this tie as favourites having faced the same opponent in the preliminary round in 2012/2013 season when they reached the final.
Back then, Pirates beat Djabal 9-0 on aggregate, collecting a 5-0 win at home, with Takesure Chinyama scoring four times, and a 4-0 away from South Africa.
The Buccaneers will hope to collect their first win away from home this season after twice dropping points following a 1-0 opening round loss to Stellenbosch FC and a goalless draw against Chippa United on Tuesday.
If Pirates would progress past Djabal, they will then face the winner of Morena Ramoreboli’s Botwana Premier League winners Jwaneng Galaxy and Vispers SC of Uganda.
Here is how they line up:
Pirates XI: Ofori, Maela, Mthethwa, Monyane, Mako, Monare, Makaringe, Saleng, Hotto, Mofokeng, Eva Nga
Subs: Chaine, Marou, Xoki, Dlamini, Ndlondlo, Otladisa, Lepasa
