Outspoken podcaster Penuel Mlotshwa reminisced about a childhood memory with his Instagram followers on Sunday, 8 March.

He shared a picture of his childhood home in Newcastle, KwaZulu-Natal, which garnered shared experiences from fans as his background story resonated with them deeply.

PENUEL MLOTSHWA SHARED TIDBITS ON PARENTS

The proud father of seven wrote that they lived in the house until he turned five, before relocating to the suburbs.

However, his father, famously known as Bab’ Raider, chose to stay behind in the township because he “functioned” better there than he would have in the suburbs.

Penuel’s father worked as a house inspector, but he also diversified his expertise as a football club owner and coach. Whereas his mother, Mamsie, was a teacher, sold secondhand clothes, and provided extra lessons.

GROWING UP IN NEWCASTLE

In many instances, Penuel, together with his younger brother Penson Mlotshwa, have always spoken highly of their upbringing in Newcastle.

Reflecting on the good times spent in that classic four-roomed house in Newcastle, the 39-year-old wrote:

“…This 4-roomed house was my home for 5 years, before we moved to the suburbs. We used to have peach trees in the front, sugarcane & vegetables at the back. My father remained there & we visited him on random weekends. He used to have anything [anywhere] from 10 to 25 dogs at any given time.”
