TS Galaxy striker Bernard Parker has revealed why he did not celebrate his goal against his former side Kaizer Chiefs in their DStv Premiership match back in October.
Parker came on as a first-half substitute and scored against Amakhosi for the first time since his departure at FNB stadium during their 2-2 draw.
Die Hond, as the former South African international is known, spoke to iDiski Times senior writer Velile Mnyandu in edition 83 of the newspaper, discussing his emotions when netting vs Amakhosi.
“On the day I didn’t know whether I was going to start or not because building up to the match, the coach didn’t give any clear possible line-up in terms of will start the match. And on the day I found that I was going to start on the bench,” he said.
“When I went in I just went in normal, no point to prove but just to enjoy my game. And I think with that positive magnetic energy I had, the ball came to me and it managed to deflect off to me into the back of the net.
“I didn’t know what to do in terms of celebration, because of the love and respect I have you know for the club.
“I’ve spent the most successful, the most enjoyable part of my career, I’ve spent at Kaizer Chiefs. So I just said let me keep it cool.”
