Orlando Pirates make decision on Zakhele Lepasa-report

Although it is no secret that Orlando Pirates are in the market for a striker, they already have a whole host of them at the club as it stands.

Besides those already at the club and struggling, there are the likes of Lepasa who were sent out on loan by Pirates to SuperSport United

Lepasa had initially seemed like he made a good move, joining SuperSport from Pirates, as he started getting regular game time. Towards the end of the season though, his minutes for Gavin Hunt’s side. That fact is what seemed to perplex Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos who has made it no secret that he is an admirer of the player.

Broos has both waxed lyrical about Lepasa’s ability, as well as walking the talk by selecting him and giving him the confidence to lead the line for Bafana Bafana. He has not disappointed him with the player scoring three goals in three starts now for national team. That form showing what he can do when playing for a coach that backs him. That seems to have not always been the case under Jose Riveiro at Pirates.

But, it now seems like that may change in the new season, with the latest reports suggesting that he has convinced the Pirates technical staff that he deserves to be a part of the squad again next season, according to Soccer-Laduma

Lepasa to stay at Pirates

“Zakhele Lepasa has been impressive and Pirates are likely to recall him for next season. The team will be playing in Africa (CAF Champions League) and the coach and his technical team will need to have depth and that’s why Lepasa is unlikely to go on another loan”. Said a source to the same publication.

It would make sense for Pirates to bring back Lepasa, with the club set to play across five competitions next season. But with an already bloated attack, a few players will certainly have to make way too.
