Stellenbosch FC have confirmed the signing of former Baroka defender Vusi Sibiya as a direct replacement for Zitha Kwinika, as they confirmed their latest signings.

Sibiya, 27, comes highly rated and in the same ilk as their former captain as physically imposing, comfortable on the ball and perhaps one of the more underrated players in the top-flight.

The former TUT talent was surprisingly left out of the starting line-up for the last 11 games of their season as Bakgaga eventually suffered relegation, a far cry from the form he displayed last season which earned him a call-up to the Bafana Bafana squad for the 2021 COSAFA Cup.

iDiski Times had learnt that Sibiya has agreed personal terms with the club ahead of joining them on 1 July on a free transfer, with the player holding an option to leave the club for free due to a relegation clause in his contract.

Stellies have now confirmed the deal.

Stellies have long identified the player as a key figure who could bolster their defensive options and the exit of Kwinika to Chiefs accelerated their desire to land the tough-tackling defender.

Joining Sibiya on the journey to Stellies, is former Baroka teammate Nhlanhla Mgaga, who was also confirmed.

Stellies have also welcomed Congolese attacking midfielder William Likuta, who joins from Motema Pemba.

The club also confirmed that former TS Galaxy forward Sinethemba Mngomezulu had joined on a three year deal.

But the club was not done, and also announced the signing of German defender Lasse Sobiech, as iDiski Times reported last month.

iDiski Times had reported all of these deals in previous editions of the newspaper.
