Six Banyana Banyana players were nominated for the CAF Women’s Player of the Year award, while Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies are nominated in the Club of the Year category.
The Confederation of African Football announced the nominees for the women’s categories of this this year’s CAF awards on Wednesday.
After lifting the inaugural CAF Women’s Champions League it doesn’t surprise that Sundowns Ladies are among the seven nominees for the Club of the Year award.
In addition, four Sundowns players were nominated for the CAF Interclub Player of the Year accolade, which is given to players based in Africa, namely: Andile Dlamini, Bambanani Mbane, Zanele Nhlapho and Andisiwe Mgcoyi.
Overall, six Banyana players have made the shortlist for the main award of the CAF Women’s Player of the year, namely: Andile Dlamini, Bambanani Mbane, Chrestinah Kgatlana, Jermaine Seoposenwe, Refiloe Jane and Linda Motlhalo.
Meanwhile, there were no South African nominees for the Young Women’s Player of the Year.
