The South African Broadcast Association (SABC) have confirmed they will broadcast a selection of English Premier League games in the 2022/23 season.
Known as the most popular and most-watched league in the world, the English top-flight on state television in South Africa is a blockbuster partnership.
With millions of South Africans not having access to watch some of the teams they may have grown up supporting it marks an incredible breakthrough, as they add the EPL to the Bundesliga rights they already hold.
It marks another ambitious move in the direction of SABC Sport which has moved to satellite television with Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT) which is also available on the Telkom One application.
“The English Premier League is going to back on the SABC, on SABC Sport,” Head of SABC Sport Gary Rathbone confirmed on Monday evening on SoccerZone.

“We’ll be showing it every Saturday afternoon on SABC 3 as well as on the sport channels [like] with all the other content as well.
“One of the top football leagues in the world, right back on the SABC. It will be one of the 3pm games on a Saturday, selected by the Premier League.”
