Marumo Gallants have appointed a new coach to succeed Dan Malesela and for the second time in a year, they have looked to France for their answer.

Last season Sebastien Migne was put in charge of the Limpopo club, but the Frenchman only lasted a few months.

Now with the club having opted not to renew Malesela’s contract, they have turned to a young coach, Romain Folz, to take up the mantle.

iDiski Times has learnt that Folz put pen to paper with the club on Thursday, and is set to lead the team in the 2022/2023 DStv Premiership season.

Just 31-year-old, Folz will be the youngest head coach in the DStv Premiership. He was previously in charge at Botswana’s Township Rollers, while also had stints at Ashanti Gold and Bechem United in Ghana, while he has been an assistant at Pyramids in Egypt, as well as for the Ugandan national team.

“We welcome Coach Romain Folz to the team, he brings an impressive and energetic approach to football that we believe will be a great fit for Marumo Gallants,” Gallant’s Chairman Abram Sello stated.

“I am very happy and honoured to join Marumo Gallants F.C. and a league such as the PSL,” said Folz.

“My first words are for our fans. I can only tell them that all the efforts and work we will put in every single day is for them. We want to make them proud, and I will dedicate all my time and energy to reach that goal.”
