Mamelodi Sundowns have signed Chilean winger Marcelo Allende, his club Montevideo City Torque confirmed.

The 23-year-old is set to join Masandawana, where he would become the club’s third signing this window following Sipho Mbule and Ronwen Williams, who were both unveiled by the club, while Moroccan defender Abdelmounaim Boutouil will join from Botola Pro outfit SCC Mohammedia.

“Marcelo Allende, player of Los Ciudadanos for three seasons and top assister in the history of Montevideo City Torque has been transferred to Masandawana,” Montevideo stated on social media.

Allende made his Chile debut in December 2021 and is highly praised in South American media, who call the transfer a “surprise move”.

He made 20 appearances for Montevideo this season, scoring six goals and assisting another three.

Sundowns will be the attacking midfielder’s fifth club after stints with Deportes Santa Cruz, Necaxa de Mexico, Magallanes and Montevideo – should the move go through.
