Chippa United have announced the signing of the striker Etiosa Ighodaro on loan from Mamelodi Sundowns.
The 21-year-old Nigerian who had joined Downs from Abuja College and also spent time in Italy before making his switch to South Africa. He’s highly rated but has struggled with injuries over the past 12 months.
Last season he scored four league goals in 18 games (14 starts) in the Motsepe Foundation Championship while on loan at AmaTuks and had managed to attract interest from Partizan Belgrade, as reported by iDiski Times.
However, Chippa have now announced the arrival of the player, who still had two years remaining on his contract at Chloorkop and joins the Chilliboys on loan.
“Etiosa is a natural goalscorer who will soon become a firm favourite with our fans. I’m happy he has chosen to join us, as he had a lot of interest from other clubs,” Chippa chairman, Siviwe ‘Chippa’ Mpengesi explained.
The striker becomes the club’s 17th signing after Chippa had unveiled 16 new players last month already.
